Workshops

Adaptable formats that pair close reading with making.

Each workshop ends with something participants made and a clearer sense of how remix systems work. We adapt them for youth programs, classrooms, libraries, and public events.

Workshop Themes

We shape every workshop with the host, for any age group, subject, or length of session. These themes are starting points.

  1. Cut-Up Poetry

    Chance and editorial intention

Slice a source text into fragments and compose something new from the collisions.

  2. Markov Chain Poetry

    Probability as a writing tool

Build a simple text generator from a writer's vocabulary, then steer it toward a meaning.

  3. Visualizing a Corpus

    Data visualization

Run a corpus through word counts and sentiment, then chart the results and use the picture to ask new questions of a single text.

  4. Quantum Metaphor

    Superposition, entanglement, collapse

Explore quantum ideas through writing and revision.

  5. Building Controllers

    Physical computing

Build a simple controller and see what it can do to a text.

  6. Collaborative Remix

    Shared corpora, collective authorship

Groups remix each other's language and share the results together.

These are a sample of what we offer. Get in touch to hear about the full catalog.

Remixing Two Writers

Participants choose two writers, study what makes each voice distinctive, and use a LiteraryDJ remix engine to write a new line that draws on both. The group shares the results and talks about style, chance, and who gets credit for a remix.
